I first met Hanna and Lucas through my husband, as Lucas and he work together. From the moment I met Hanna, I knew she was someone special. She’s warm, vibrant, and full of life. Together with Lucas, they share a beautiful love story. Between Taco Bell date nights and raising three amazing kids, their connection is undeniable. I was so excited for our couples’ session at Joint Base Lewis-McChord because their natural chemistry and love for each other just shine through.

Planning the Couples’ Session

When it came to planning their session, I knew I wanted something that felt true to them. Then, I remembered Hanna’s sweet Tennessee accent. That’s when the idea of a country theme clicked! I love how it blends the wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest with the charm of Tennessee—a perfect reflection of their love. We chose McKay Marsh Trail at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a peaceful and stunning spot near Tacoma. It’s quiet, close to both our homes, and has the most beautiful moss-covered trees, which made for the ideal backdrop. And, of course, there was plenty of space for a pickup truck to make the theme come to life.

Starting with the Truck

Our couples’ session at Joint Base Lewis-McChord began with intimate shots in the truck. I love how the truck frames couples, creating a cozy, cinematic vibe. After that, we ventured out into the open field for a different feel. One of my favorite things to do during sessions is prompt couples to “play tag.” It’s always a great way to bring out genuine laughter and real smiles. I also love encouraging couples to snuggle in close, creating those quiet, tender moments.

Into the Forest

Lucas had a wonderful idea to head into a small clearing in the forest. It turned out to be the perfect spot! The way the branches framed them felt so intimate, like they were in their own world, with me just on the outside looking in.
